Skype is Officially on the iPhone!

"Skype is set to launch its iPhone application Tuesday bringing its much anticipated Net-based phone service to Apple's mobile platform. With the Skype iPhone app users will be able to make free calls using Wi-Fi to other Skype users as well as use their Skype accounts to make reduced price calls to traditional landline phones."
Sneak Peek at Skype for iPhone, Available Tuesday -- PCWorld

I already use Nimbuzz for Skype but a Skype specific app may make things sound clearer. So if it is free, I will try it out. Though I can't wait til the iPhone has a video camera, by then I'm sure I won't be needing Skype as much. Apple seems to be taking its time on building a new version of this wonderful gadget.

"Knock You Down"

Keri Hilson ft. Kanye West & Ne-Yo "Knock You Down"

I like the video and I like the song. Plus Keri is wicked hot. But Ne-Yo, please stop. Yes you are RICH but not enough to force your fake pop star ass on the rest of us.

Daivd Bowie, I think I'm a fan

David Bowie on Soul Train, and that is all you need to know.

This month I've watched his 1976 film "The Man Who Fell To Earth" twice. (I swear Director Nicolas Roeg is a genius) It seriously stumped me the first time through but I eventually got it. We're all aliens! Anyways... Bowie is a cool dude. He's like the kid in high school who wore the same all black clothes year round and when you finally talked to him... it turns out that he's pretty funny.

So I've started listening to his album "Low", which was supposed to be the sound track for this film, but instead it became this space groove that I can really dig.

Well, if you're a music fan and haven't tapped into the thin sexiness that is David Bowie (which inspired so many). I think you might be missing out on sounds and visions.

The White Stripes - I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself

Today is my girlfriend's birthday (and my Dad's...weird) WELL HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE! I've been lost without you in my life everyday. So every time I hear this song... I want to learn how to play it, so I can jam out in my basement and think of you. xoxo.

Happy Friday!

FRESH MUSIC: Free the Robots

"From Elsewhere comes Free the Robots, A balance of everything that is music. The Robot sound pays homage to the past with a drive for the future blending elements of Jazz, Hip Hop, Electronica, Bossanova, Experimental, Soul, Psychedelic, Rock, etc..." -- last.fm

Two words, "totally awesome" - Yep, this is the kind of music I play at work to help me relax and get through the day in a funky groove. Plus its the kind of vibe that plays a huge part of my Pandora radio station (find the link on my blog).

What does it sound like?
Bonobo, Amon Tomin, Flying Lotus and many more! Okay, so its not original, but it definitely adds to the mix. Plus he's all over the place sample wise which is inspiring. "Jazzhole" and "The Brightest Hour (remix)" are my favorites so far.

Darius Goes West

Darius Goes West. One Year. One Million DVDs.

One of the greatest things you can do in your life is serve others. Time and money are great tools of service and Darius Goes West is one of those projects, you can't walk away from. Watch his story. Celebrate life. Donate.

"Darius Goes West is a documentary by Logan Smalley. It revolves around Darius Weems, a teenager with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, who, because of his disease, had never left his hometown of Athens, Georgia. Thus, in the summer of 2005, with the help of eleven young friends, 15-year-old Darius set off on a road trip across the United States with the ultimate goal of reaching Los Angeles in the hopes of appearing on MTV's show "Pimp My Ride". They traveled in an RV and tested wheelchair-accessibility in America during the course of their trip. They hoped to get Darius's old and worn-out wheelchair customized on the hit show." -- Wikipedia

Thursday

March Madness

Since it starts today, I'm breaking my own rules and I'm posting on a Thursday.

Anyways, I rarely watch college basketball until March when things actually get interesting. Good teams screw up and heroes rise from the smallest corners of the world. This year I've filled out like 12 brackets all over the web and at the bar down the street. Plus I've thrown $36 at this with the potential to win...maybe $500 total?

Well here are my top picks:

Final Four: Louisville, Memphis, Pittsburgh, UNC

Champions: Louisville

Biggest Upset: Arizona St over Syracuse OR Maryland over California

Biggest Regret: Not picking Memphis to win it all.

Now remember that my average score is like 44%. Good luck everyone, enjoy! GO AU!

Stewart for the People

Read the articles if you missed this last week. Seriously it was some good stuff and there are many videos on Youtube that cover the situation. Personally, I watch CNBC and the Daily Show. Please tell me which one do I feel speaks the truth more often? Yes, God bless America. But thank you Cramer for standing up and doing the right thing.

Jon Stewart's scathing rebukes of the financial news network, one after another, on "The Daily Show" underline much of the public's anger toward Wall Street... And with that, the network now has the challenge of convincing the public that it's serving as a watchdog for investors, and not the establishment lapdog that it's seen to be.
Jon Stewart clarifies CNBC's conundrum -- MarketWatch

Jon Stewart's Jim Cramer interview was a pivotal moment -- not just for Stewart, Cramer, and CNBC but also for journalism. It was a bracing reminder of what great research and a journalist more committed to getting to the truth than to landing the big get -- and keeping the big get happy, and ensuring future big gets -- can accomplish.

Fluorescent Bulb Music

SONY "WALKMAN" CM

Tron 2.0 + Daft Punk = Crazy Delicious

I'm a total geek when it comes to Sci Fi movies, espcially classics like Tron. This time not only am I pumped that they are making a sequal but that DAFT gets to back it up with its awesomeness!

No Doubt is BACK!

Okay, so if you haven't heard. No Doubt is touring again which will probably lead to a new album. Beside the fact that Gwen is on my list of my celebrity wives. I'm a huge fan of their music and have been since middle school. Its fun, edgy and full of rhythm. Well they've updated their YouTube page and you should watch their "Seven Days of No Doubt" series about how they wrote their songs. Definitely a must see if you're a fan.

Cold War Kids' New Video

Cold War Kids - I've Seen Enough

I like the Cold War Kids and I like "Robbers & Cowards" their last album, but I missed the show when they came through DC. It's a solid sound and I don't think anyone else really sounds like them....they're a much more natural sounding Muse. I love it. On a side note I think the video editing rocks.

CNBC finally gets it!

Jon Stewart Eviscerates CNBC and Rick Santelli - March 4, 2009

Thank you John Stewart! I try and watch this channel a lot, because of my interest in becoming a fund manager. I have it on at work and I watch "Squawk" in the morning but seriously MOST of the time its like watching ESPN when all of the professional sports are in the off season at the same time. We're stuck in a 10 minute loop that changes every 12 hours!

So please stop trying to constantly remind us of the bad news. They were wrong. We were wrong. And best of all, you were wrong. I get it. Now let's move on, you money hungry jerks.

Student Loan Payback Based on Earnings... PURE GENIUS!

"Instead of paying upfront or taking loans with repayment schedules unrelated to income, students would accept an obligation to pay a fixed percentage of their income for a specified period of time, regardless of the income level achieved. Suppose a university charged $40,000 a year in annual tuition. A standard 20-year loan in the amount of $160,000 (40,000 times four) would produce an immediate postgraduate debt obligation of $1,228.50 per month, or $14,742 per year, not sustainable at a salary of $25,000 or anything close to it. Under a smart loan program, the student could pay about 11 percent of his income, with an initial payback of $243 per month, or $2,916 per year, which is feasible at a job paying $25,000. If, after five years, the student’s salary jumped to $100,000, payments would jump accordingly and move up over time as income increases. After 20 years, assuming ordinary income increase, the loan would be paid off."
Superb Idea: Student Loan Payback Based on Earnings -- GOOD

My student debt is very close to this and I have a decent job for someone my age with a Comm degree but still I don't make enough to live and pay student loans. Its the 800 pound gorilla sitting in my room. At some point its going to get up and kill me. Well this concept sounds very reasonable. I hope someone looks into it.

Quit Your Day Job

This isn't a command but a suggestion to look into turning your craft making hobbies into a real income stream through Etsy.com and other online retail websites. They have a blog post series called Quit Your Day Job where they interview people (mostly women) who have quit their day jobs to make crafts and support themselves. Not every story is the same and some live on two incomes, but its the concept that I like. Owning your own business is one of the best ways to become financial independent.

The Roots are backing up Jimmy?!?!

It's a mixed blessing, but seriously it might be my only reason to watch the show because whenever Fallon talks... it feels like an SNL skit.

"But ?uestlove says the band's new job has "enabled us to survive. "This would basically match or surpass what we would make touring 200-plus days out of the year. And, two, this allows us to be home," he said.... Seeing hip-hop regularly on a late show will be revolutionary in itself, but the Roots are more than a hip-hop band. Their debut "Do You Want More?!!!??!" had obvious jazz influence. The group may be best known for their Grammy-winning collaboration with Erykah Badu, "You Got Me"; Their hit off their 2002 disc "Phrenology," performed with Cody Chesnutt _ "The Seed (2.0)" _ is one of the best rock songs of the decade."

Dance Post #8 - Quest Crew

Quest Crew week 7- The Siccest Performance ever!!!

Everyone knows that I don't watch this show because dance crews should battle each other and not preform one at a time like cheerleaders. Everyone who has ever been in a break dance battle knows that you only get better by battling not performing BUT seriously... the Quest Crew's routine is SIC!!! They definitely give the Jabbawockies a run for their money. Plus the last move is one of the coolest things I've ever seen. Break it down boys!

I've never watched a full episode of Joes VS Pros but watching them compare Rich's 40-yard dash with the top college athletes, it killed me. I was laughing so hard I was crying. But on a serious note, it proves to me that I need to train hard cause one day I may see how slow I actually am. Thank you brother, Rich.

Al Gore invented the internet?

History of the Internet

Wow, I'm sure there are classes you can take in computer history but seriously my brain started to freeze. Basically the internet is just a gigantic network of computers, built because of the threat of war. And it looks like a universe within a universe.

Still a great animation though.
