I can't stop listening to...

“Cali Dreams” by Solly

It just makes me want to turn it up and dance. Plus anytime you can make a classic 60's song jumpin' I need to give you props.

FRESH MUSIC: Nneka

Nneka is some hard-lovin Euro soul music that doesn't sound European. I love the emotion and her natural sound. "Heartbeat" is my favorite song.

"Nneka Egbuna is a Nigerian-German hip hop/soul singer and songwriter. She sings in English and her traditional language of Igbo." -- Wikipedia

"Nneka's U.S. debut, "Concrete Jungle," unfolds like a 12-track wake-up call: an unrelenting mishmash of horns, trumpets and, sometimes, steel drums. 'God is knocking at the door; could you let him in?' the 28-year-old asks on accordian-driven..." -- SFGate

The making of... The Man Your Man Could Smell Like

I'm so happy that someone took the time to figure out how they made this commercial. It's seriously hilarious and Isaiah Mustafa rocks it. Well done.

Agent Provocateur

I have this thing for Kylie Minogue for like... forever. So when MOG said, "If you haven't seen this ad, you haven't lived yet." I knew my world was about to be blown and it was. Thank you Agent Provocateur.

(On a side note: I don't label things SFW or NSFW, because if that actually matters to you... what the fuck are you doing online? Go back to work. C'mon let's use some common sense here.)

I can't stop listening to...

"Ayo Technology" by Milow

What an awesome cover. Seriously, who knew 50 Cent songs could rock as a guitar ballard? Rock on Milow, rock on.

Milow - Ayo Technology

Here's another fun cover of the same song by Katerine, enjoy.

FRESH MUSIC: Little Dragon

As if my love for the Swedes (Those Dancing Days, Lykke Li and Hassle) and their young music couldn't grow any bigger, I find Little Dragon.

Little Dragon is a smooth rhythmic mystical journey into sound. Yukimi Nagano's voice rocks the mic as she oozes feminine soul. Plus the song “Runabout” puts me in such a good mood. Seriously, Electro Soul is quickly becoming my favorite genre.

"Little Dragon is an electronic music band, based in Gothenburg, Sweden. It consists of Swedish-Japanese singer Yukimi Nagano (vocals, percussion) and her close high-school friends Erik Bodin (drums), Fredrik Källgren Wallin (bass), and Håkan Wirenstrand (keyboards). Their song "Twice" is featured in Season 5 of ABC's Grey's Anatomy." -- Wikipedia

5 Second Films

Screw 48 hours... how about you make a film that 5 seconds long? Well 5 Second Films have massed a collection of super short films that are funny, sad, lovable and weird. Definitely worth at least 60 seconds of browsing.

Late For Work

"5-Second Films was created by Brian “Boss Man” Firenzi in the Spring of 2005, after being disappointed by so many 5,400-second films. The rules are simple: 2 seconds of beginning titles, 5 seconds of film, 1 second of end titles. If you take umbrage with these 5sfs running at an actual length of 8 seconds, we can only assume you’re no fun at dinner parties." -- 5secondfilms.com

Nobody seems to know where you can buy the Fedex T-Shirt but it's awesome, period. Especially if you work in a mail room.

Why are body deodorant/wash commercials the best? Oh this makes me laugh every time. Kudos Old Spice! (Why don't I look like this... I've been using OS for years.)

FRESH MUSIC: Common Market

"Common Market is a hip hop duo based in Seattle, Washington with members RA Scion and DJ/Producer Sabzi. The two members were individually active hip hop artists in the Pacific Northwest since 2002, but collectively combined their talents in 2005 to form Common Market." -- Wikipedia

Who knew that Seattle had such awesome hip-hop roots? For me, this is true hip-hop. It feels real and sounds like the truth. It just doesn't taste like polished shit.

Check out, Common Market. Especially since the DJ makes up one half of Blue Scholars, which of course has a similar sound.

Music Video: "Down Here In Hell"

I'm not sure about the big brother spying on you theme, but I love the idea of being stuck in a small room with your lover. Tension does build in more ways than one. Plus, its a great song.

Super Bowl 44

My GF and I ended up in Chinatown at one of my BU friend's apartment. The ratio was 7 girls and 2 guys, so I was sure it would be an interesting Super Bowl and boy was I right. Even though, I really didn't care who won, I wanted to see the Saints to beat the Colts. Gratefully, after a lame half time show, some brilliant DEF and a Madden like onside kick... the Saints pulled it off. (Wow!) Well done, shots of Captain all around!

Anyways... I still really watch the big game for the commercials. This year wasn't too bad, though the order that they appeared in could have been different. Well, here are My Top Three Favorite Commercials. Check out Youtube to watch the rest of them.

VHS Hard Drives

I just want one to have lying around the office. I think a VHS copy of Tron or Indian Jones would be awesome!

"For those who like their storage combined with celluloid nostalgia, there're these external hard drives hidden inside VHS tapes: available in 320, 500, or 640GB, they come sheathed in flicks like the original Star Trek, Top Gun, and Return of the Jedi -- just pray the Ewoks don't go and ruin all your files, too." -- VHS Hard Drives, $5

FRESH MUSIC: Mysto & Pizzi

I know I'm a little late since they're not running the GEICO commercials as much, but Mysto & Pizzi created the "Somebody's Watching Me" song. The best part... they actually make great music and show you how they do it. So check out Mysto & Pizzi and learn something new.

Miranda Kerr & GQ

I just wanted to share with you my girl, Miranda Kerr's new photos on GQ.com. Enjoy.

Ånime: "Wild Arms: Twilight Venom"

I've just finished watching Wild Arms: Twilight Venom, which is a great series if you like Trigun or Desert Punk. I enjoyed the western theme and its laid back sense of humor. There is an overall plot, but every episode involves its on set of characters and storyline, which are unique to the series. The animation and color is pretty basic, but what really caught my eye is the shot selection. There are some great camera tricks sprinkled throughout it's 22 episodes. Overall I give it 4 stars out of 5.

Wild Arms is a Japanese anime series based on the Wild Arms video games. The series was animated by Bee Train (Medabots), and directed by Itsuro Kawasaki and Kōichi Mashimo (Noir).

"Wild Arms exploits the tales of Sheyenne Rainstorm, a deadly gunslinger trapped in the body of a 10-year old boy. Together with bandit Kiel Aronakus, card-throwing dame Loretta Oratorio, vampire girl Mirabelle Graceland and a weird creature named Jerusha, Sheyenne embarks on a long journey to find out about his lost past and figure out who placed him in his current body." -- Anime News Network

DC has the most congested traffic in the U.S.

I'm so glad that it's a fact now. LA can talk all about their traffic, but in DC its the whole city ALL FREAK'N DAY! It's like everyone goes to work and heads home at the same time. We're a city of workaholics! Seriously, I've stood on a crowded metro at 9:30pm on a Wednesday FULL of people headed home from work. C'mon!

"Washington D.C. proved to have the slowest drivers, where speeds averaged a mere 46 miles per hour -- although that likely has something to do with TomTom's earlier findings that Washington D.C. also has the most congested traffic in the U.S." -- engadget
