Indigo De Souza

Indigo De Souza is an American singer-songwriter from Asheville, North Carolina. Her most recent album Any Shape You Take was released in August 2021. Her indie rock sound reminds me of too many great bands to just pick one. I dig it.

The Budos Band

The Budos Band is an American instrumental band from Staten Island, New York, formed in 2005. AllMusic describes the group as a "doom rock Afro-soul big band with a '70s touch" that joins "musical universes from trippy psychedelia and Afro-funk to '70s hard rock and late-'60s soul." They have been signed to Daptone Records. I've mentioned them before, but it's more official this time.

Thee Sacred Souls

Thee Sacred Souls is a sweet soul band from San Diego, CA that's signed to Daptone Records. Sound of vocalist Josh Lane really sets them apart from other soul town classic bands.

"The band’s original focus was on rare Chicano Soul music from lowrider culture. But once Lane joined the project, its sound was swayed by his own influences, including what he calls “the trinity of soul — Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin and Al Green,” as well as his love of alternative indie and traditional folk. The blend of backgrounds has resulted in a traditional Chicano Soul band with a modern twist." -- The holy rise of Thee Sacred Souls
