Video: MAXON 25

I wonder how long this took to make? Excellent execution though, so fluid and the ending sequence. Very nice.

Music: "We Come Together"

Probably the coolest music video I've seen all year. So badass! I wonder if you can name all of the pop culture references?

Artist You Should Know: Alexa Meade

What an amazing concept! What an amazing artist! Alexa Meade paints people and lights them to make them look like paintings. My mind is blown! This would make for an interesting music video or guessing game. See more of her work here.

"The images... are the work of Alexa Meade who currently lives in D.C. Notice I said images, not paintings! Somehow she manages to blend paint on the human body in way that makes the figure look like it jumped straight from the canvas into the real world." -- slodive.com

A Box of Magical Things

I love arts and crafts stores because they inspire me to do creative things. What if you could order a box full of wonderful things to inspire creativity? Well you can!

"Parcel. Based out of Montclair, New Jersey, the new online shop is full of crafty inspiration boxes. Available in two sizes and a variety of themes, the pretty parcels consist of vintage and hard-to-find bits of ephemera, millinery, and supplies and are perfect for craft projects, gift wrapping, party planning, or simply as decoration."

They are about $50 a piece but what isn't these days. Be inspired.

Artist You Should Know: Mitch Ansara

Mitch Ansara, is a guy doing some cool things. He's turning movies into books. Well he's making cover book art inspired by movies. You can check them out here and here. Enjoy.

"Okay, I've officially discovered my first favorite piece of geeked-out awesomeness of 2009, and it comes in the form of these excellent 1960s-inspired paperback book covers of novelized movie adaptations. Artist Mitch Ansara created these illustrations as part of his own Make Something Cool Every Day project, and all of them come from his (fictional) I Can Read Movies series."

Artist You Should Know: Won Park

Won Park and his "One Dollar Oragami" is taking the world by storm. All of his origami are really small but can show you what your imagination can create.

Oh and a great website to learn origami is the Origami Club, "a site that gives free instructions on creating just about anything in the whole world by folding paper."

Artist You Should Know: Linda Plaisted

"Linda Plaisted is a classically trained painter, photographer and mixed media artist who has exhibited her work in galleries and museums throughout North America.
Her work is held in private and corporate collections worldwide. Each piece of artwork she creates is layered by hand with images she has captured in her photographs, drawings, paintings and collected ephemera. Her delight in nature and the unique ability to conjure mood from the simplest of compositions is evident in her work." -- Manymuses

"Recapture that carefree spirit with the work of local artist Linda Plaisted of Manymuses Studio... Plaisted captures images that she tints and layers with bright colors and vintage-cast borders to create retro scenes that would fit right into a Tim Burton set. You can also find more haunting images: open fields, hovering crows, and Civil War battlefields, often with old, dust-covered viewfinders." -- DailyCandy

I am in love with her work and if I had the extra cash I would so buy one. I think I will have to settle for a new desktop wallpaper for now. Her "Four and Twenty Blackbirds" gallery is amazing and definitely inspiring. As an artist who thrives on mixed media, remixing and appropriation, it was a breath of fresh air.
