Wednesday

The Strokes

Back in August of 2011 I said, "Every once in a while (or every week) a few songs get stuck in my head and The Strokes have been leading the charge."

FYI, future rockers. When you're hit album is 20+ years old. Put it online for free for the next generation to find. Don't put it behind a paywall. Especially if you're still touring.

Wet Leg: Tiny Desk Concert

I needed this today. Love me some Wet Leg.

"We've been chasing a Wet Leg Tiny Desk ever since the Isle of Wight band floored us with the 2021 single 'Chaise Longue,' a song that, like much of the group's work, is as understated and droll as it is frenetic and infectious... You won't hear 'Chaise Longue' or 'Catch These Fists,' the ripping first single from the upcoming album, moisturizer. Instead, singer Rhian Teasdale and the rest of the band chose to spotlight the album's core themes: the joy of being in love in a state of bliss."

Tuesday

Shelly

Reminds me of the music I grew up listening to.

Clairo, along with her friends Claud, Josh Mehling, and Noa Frances Getzug, formed a band called Shelly. Shelly released a two-song EP in 2020 featuring the tracks "Steeeam" and "Natural". The band briefly disbanded after the two members discovered they were cousins, but they have since reunited.

Monday

Balu Brigada

Balu Brigada reminds me of The Strokes and Phoenix. Shout out to Dave T for the share.

Balu Brigada is a New Zealand indie rock band originally from Auckland. The act, formed in 2016 with four members, is led by multi-instrumentalist brothers Henry and Pierre Beasley.

Thursday

Book Club Radio

Book Club Radio is the best DJ duo on the web. My favorite so far is Tinzo's Book Club Meeting #26. They remind me of Pity Party from DC. Also Girl Talk which is legendary.

"Tinzo brings a mix of feel good, and body moving disco and house to our milk themed party at H0l0 in Ridgewood, NY."

Wednesday

I basically use this as a writing timer. It's great.

Tuesday

Khruangbin

I love that Khruangbin has blown up and inspired so many playlist and other bands to cover this kind of music. Just needed a place to put more of my favorite Khruangbin playlists.

Monday

Hit the Ground

It's been on loop since I've heard it in that H&M TikTok trend.

I'm like 60% sure Ai made this music, but I'm digging it. Shout to 7 Cult Records.

Wednesday

Sophie Marks

First came across "Easy to Dream" - Sophie Marks on TikTok. It was just a clip but I listened to the loop maybe 100 times. It was so haunting like a dream I've had before. It works so well. Plus Sophie is killin' it.
