Steel Beans

Steel Beans is generally influenced by 1960's music and art, No genre or medium really goes untouched from recording Psychedelic Rock, Funk, Reggae, Jazz, Hip-Hop, electronic and whatever else is in between. Although the recorded output is mainly Jeremy DeBardi on each instrument, since 2007 the live band has consisted of a variety of lineups including some of his closest friends and favorite local talent. Mainly fellow weirdos. 10 versions of the band later, and over 30 different musicians Steel Beans continues to re-invent their sound and image in the heart of downtown North Everett, Washington (about 30 minutes north of Seattle). Honestly the best thing to ever come out of North Everett is Steel Beans.

Fronted by London-born Nigerian singer Eno Williams, Ibibio Sound Machine is a clash of African and electronic elements inspired in equal measure by the golden era of West-African funk & disco and modern post-punk & electro.

In a glowing piece in the New York Times, those songs were praised for following 'in the tradition of much African music, [making] themselves the conscience of a community.'"

Deem Spencer

"The beginning of Spacey Jane’s astonishing success in Australia came behind closed doors. Their debut album ‘Sunlight’, was received with the backdrop of a continuing lockdown in June 2020. The balance of introspective lyrics and hopeful, sun-kissed instrumentation struck a chord; it provided a guide with which to get through the current moment, as well as a glimpse of what could follow when it was all over."

Wednesday

A lot of bands coming up with that Strokes sound and Wet Leg occupies that space beautifully.

Thee Sacred Souls

Thee Sacred Souls is a sweet soul band from San Diego, CA that's signed to Daptone Records. Sound of vocalist Josh Lane really sets them apart from other soul town classic bands.

"The band’s original focus was on rare Chicano Soul music from lowrider culture. But once Lane joined the project, its sound was swayed by his own influences, including what he calls “the trinity of soul — Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin and Al Green,” as well as his love of alternative indie and traditional folk. The blend of backgrounds has resulted in a traditional Chicano Soul band with a modern twist." -- The holy rise of Thee Sacred Souls
