Shuggie Otis

Shuggie Otis is an American singer-songwriter, recording artist, and multi-instrumentalist and the son of Johnny Otis. His composition "Strawberry Letter 23" (as recorded by The Brothers Johnson) topped the Billboard R&B chart and reached #5 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in '77. So yeah you've heard of Shuggie Otis, but you just didn't know it.

KHRUANGBIN VIBES Vol. 2-4

Mol Alexander has provided the world with a few great Khruangbin inspired playlist. YouTube blocked Vol. 1, but you can listen to it here. I have featured Khruangbin on Loopaleep before and if you enjoy the vibe of their music these playlists are an excellent follow up.

Sunday

Monica Martin

Monica Martin is a Chicago-born singer-songwriter who grew up in rural Wisconsin. She fronted experimental-folk-pop sextet, PHOX and her voice is a dark rose gold. Priceless.

Follow Me

Follow Me makes dance music, but I think their profile explains it best... "We are...Two Inter-dimensional Shamans sent to this Universe to help guide your Planet through the December 2012 Cosmic Rebirth." I first heard about these guys because of their sexy Silk remix.

311 Day

I'm actually surprised that I've never made a post about this... Happy 311 Day! Here's my favorite 311 songs and some 311 facts. Enjoy.

"The band's name originates from the police code for indecent exposure in Omaha, Nebraska, after the original guitarist for the band was arrested for streaking."

"311 has released thirteen studio albums, two live albums, four compilation albums, four EPs and four DVDs."

"On March 11, 2000, 311 began celebrating an unofficial holiday of their own creation, which they called 311 Day. Every other year on March 11, the band performs an extended concert for thousands of their fans."

"In 2018, 311 and The Offspring toured together on the Never-Ending Summer tour. That summer, The Offspring released a cover of 311's 'Down' and 311 released a 'reggaefied' cover of The Offspring's 'Self Esteem'."

Cortex

Cortex was a “mythical” French band started by Alain Mion, Alain Gandolfi, and Jeff Huttner in 1974. The group released three albums, beginning in the mid-seventies, including their widely-diverse 1975 debut Troupeau Bleu, which has become one of the most sought-after albums globally by record collectors. A lot of people including MF DOOM sampled their songs, which might be why they feel so modern.

Best of Rádio lofi BR

Here are three great playlist featuring songs from Brazil that are sure to warm your soul. "Yeaaaah, It's Brazil, Baby! It's Lofi Brazil Babee!!! Enjoy it!" -- @radiolofibr

Saturday

Jengi

Jengi has been making music since 2013. The warm futuristic synthesizer he creates includes a crossover of house and hip-hop drums with cutted vocal samples. Back in 2017 I came across a great remix by Jengi of Billie Eilish's "Ocean Eyes." Last Friday, I spent the whole work day jamming out to some of his playlists on SoundCloud. Totally worth it.

Thursday

Goldroom

Goldroom is an American electronic musician who began producing music in 2011 with remixes of tracks including Niki and the Dove's "Mother Protect." He took his stage name from the name of a bar in the Echo Park area of LA. I've featured Goldroom's remixes more than a few times on the Loopaleep, so I should definitely encourage you to check out his music.

He was doing a series of DJ mixes in 2020 that are worth checking out.

Tuesday

Niki & The Dove

Niki & The Dove are a Swedish indietronica duo from Stockholm. The group consists of Malin Dahlström (vocals and production) and Gustaf Karlöf (production). They were first brought together in Gothenburg where they played together in different bands before forming Niki & The Dove in 2010 and releasing the debut single “DJ, Ease My Mind” which has been featured on Loopaleep. This week I've been playing their last hit "So Much It Hurts" on loop all week.

There is also a Goldroom remix of their song "Mother Protect" that I just love.
