"Where Can I Go Without You?" has been haunting my soul since I've heard it in the background of a meme. Music by Victor Young and lyrics by Peggy Lee. The best version is on the Forbidden Fruit album by the jazz singer/pianist/songwriter Nina Simone. It was her second studio album for Colpix. The rhythm section accompanying her is the same trio as on both live albums before and after this release.
I've included Peggy and Connie's versions for comparison. Victor Young wrote some beautiful haunting melodies thru the 30s, 40s & 50s. Some compositions became standards like Stella By Starlight, Love Letters, My Foolish Heart, and When I Fall In Love.
