"Shook's outlook on music has changed. While almost dying twice, suffering from an acute form of severe pancreatitis, his life became an epiphany upon itself." "Inspired by timeless forces such as love, change and art and originates from early 80's synth-pop, disco, funk to anime and Sci-Fi OST's." Yeah, he had me at anime, but I also really dig the Daft Punk + Tron vibe.

The Shacks
Hailing from NYC, The Shacks are Shannon Wise and Max Shrager. NPR Music called them "Like floating in a delicious dream" and that is so fucking accurate. They got smooth Tennis like vocals and hints of that N.E.R.D. sound.
Friday
Future Funk Party Friday
Last Tuesday morning I ending up going down a nu disco funk hole on YouTube and figured I would share some of my favorites. The list features Ed Banger's Breakbot, The Internet, Tuxedo, Roosevelt and Khruangbin.
Wednesday
NiteWind
I heard about NiteWind (aka Saul Carrasco) via Glo-Fi Must Die and spent this morning reliving the good times. He's apart of Stratford Ct. which is a chill street in Del Mar California that brings like-minded artists together.

Thank God It's Friday (Part 4)
Let's do TGIF one more time since I'm off work today. Here's some more gold from my 2011 saved drafts featuring white rapper Bo Jankans, the grooves of Lovebirds, the vocals of Katy B, a classic jam by New Radicals and the amazing vibes of Shakira.
Monday
Florian Pellissier Quintet
Timeless, the Florian Pellissier Quintet travels in jazz from Paris to New York. A rule of the game would be to rediscover the flavor of groups New Yorkers of the 60's coming to mix with the European musicians of the time. These guys are smooth. Dreamy.
Friday
Thank God It's Friday (Part 3)
I'm going back into the 2011 saved drafts for Thank God It's Friday. We've got the soulful voice of Marcus Foster and a fun track from El Ten Eleven. And lastly the indie party vibes of NewVillager and Grouplove.
Thursday
Khruangbin
Khruangbin is a three-piece band from Texas, formed of Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald Johnson on drums. Thanks to their 70s vibe If I remade Oceans 11 or Driver I would use their music. Check out their bandcamp for all the goods.
Wednesday
KOKOROKO
KOKOROKO is a London based Afrobeat 7-Piece. They play music they love and grew up with. Inspired by the greats of West African they honor their masters through music. Also they definitely have a Buena Vista Social Club vibe and that's saying something.
Friday
Thank God It's Friday (Part 2)
For TGIF again I'm pulling tracks from my 2011 saved drafts. It's a punk, electronic and indie rock selection that I still dig. The hidden gems are "Outtacontrol" by LDFD, "Antics" by Jubilants, "Hyperlips" by Com Truise, "Swim" by Wishing Wars and "Long Gone" by Prison For Kids.
Thank God It's Friday
For TGIF this week I'm digging through my saved drafts from 2011 for nuggets. I've had this blog for almost ten years and there are saved links that I don't remember. Featured below are "Electric Lady" by Tesla Boy, "Sandcastle" by Beverlay, "Plastic Slides" by Winter Gloves, "Lets Lightning" by Pull Tiger Tail and "Funeral" (Band of Horses cover) by Copenhagen Collaboration. You can thank Oscar & Ander for the last one.

Let It Die
Let It Die is the second album by Canadian singer-songwriter Feist. It was recorded in Paris during 2002 and 2003 and released in 2004. The album combines jazz, bossa nova and indie rock. Feist is now releasing a 15 year anniversary vinyl. This album was inspiration for me during my grad school phase.

“… soul music that’s so much of the old school that it might as well drive a car with fins.” – MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL

Steve Lacy
Steve Lacy's Demo is the first solo project, a song series, by musician Steve Lacy, also a member of the band The Internet. When you hear the music you can see the connection and it's a beautiful thing. These are the kind of vibes 1999 me was looking for.
