My Birthday: Project Medishare for Haiti
Over the past couple of years, I have started to use my birthday as a platform to raise funds for a charity or cause that I believe in. Due to the devastation caused by Sandy my focus has been shifted back to Haiti.
For my birthday, I'm supporting Project Medishare and I hope you will help me by donating $5. Project Medishare provides healthcare in Haiti to people without access to the most basic medical needs.
In addition to ongoing community health programs, Medishare takes groups of volunteer medical professionals and students to Haiti to conduct health fairs and mobile clinics. On past trips the Medishare groups have delivered babies, diagnosed and treated various illnesses, and literally saved lives.
Tropical storm Sandy began hitting southern Haiti with heavy rain on Oct. 23, just as it was intensifying into a Category 1 hurricane; the rain continued through Oct. 26. Haiti suffered the worst damage of the Caribbean nations that Sandy affected. At least 54 people died, roads and bridges were damaged, and homes were destroyed. About 200,000 people suffered from the effects of the hurricane, according to official figures.
I'm excited about this organization's work and I want to help raise funds to pay for medicine, equipment, travel, and other expenses. Can I count on you to help me raise $200? Please click on this link to go to my personal fundraising web page. It's a worthy cause and Project Medishare really needs your help.
Thank you!
