"I Am Not A Robot (The Shoes Remix)" by Marina & The Diamonds
I am digging this song more and more. The original (which is the 2nd posted video) is fun, but the remix is pure joy. I love the build up and grind of the chorus. What a perfect Friday night journey. Pump ya fist if you're at the shore.

MUSIC VIDEO: "Born Free"
I know "Born Free" is a music video, but its more of a short film. It totally left me like, "omg." Seriously, this is Rated R for violence, but what a powerful message. Romain Gavras did the Justice "Stess" video too, which I like.
"When it was released on Monday, “Born Free” quickly drew excited responses from around the Web: MTV wrote that it “depicts the kind of things that most nations — including the U.S., which is portrayed as the aggressor in the clip — often pretend don’t happen” and “it does so in an unflinchingly, unapologetically real way,” and Spinner.com wrote: “If you’re into cinematic displays of violence that make overt political statements about the way state-run armed forces control people, then this one’s for you.”" -- Arts Beat

MUSIC VIDEO: "Ride"
This music video makes a guest appearance on a Wednesday, not because the song is so mind blowingly awesome. It's because HER DANCING is mind blowingly awesome. Like my brother said, "Ciara needs to apologize to women for setting the bar in my head so high."

"Humdrum Town" by Theophilus London
Someone said he kinda sounds like the old Black Eyed Peas. I think he does it better. I'm digging everything about this song and the video. Synths, drums and vocals, everything! I'm going to be jamming to this into Saturday.

I'm not posting this for the song. Purely for the video. It's an interesting concept and I'm not sure if it was executed in the best way. (Needs more Samurai fury!) Well, I just love the final image.

Movie Trailer: "Predators"
I'll probably see this in theaters since I liked the original movie (a lot), but this series is starting to get ridiculous. Well, it is nice to see Morpheus back in action. Plot: "A group of elite warriors are hunted by members of a merciless alien race known as Predators."

Awesome Blogs: A-List Screenwriting
If screenwriting for TV or film is your passion, I would suggest you follow the blog, A-List Screenwriting. They also have a newsletter, but it's pretty much the same thing. The hook is that the blogger, Jim Mercurio, is the real deal. He travels a lot teaching classes on writing, so its pretty easy to get your questions about screenwriting answered by email or in person.
"Creative Screenwriting magazine ranked him as one of the top screenplay consultants in the country. His clients include Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated clients. He has read more than 3,000 scripts and has given away more than $250,000 in prizes to writers in contests he has run; he ran the Expo Screenplay Competition for six years before starting Champion Screenwriting Competition." -- jamespmercurio.com

Advertising: Musical Shoes for Nike
Coolest shoe add ever! Best part... they're actually making music with the shoes. Too bad you can't buy them and I'm sure some music act or rich kid is interested.
NIKE MUSIC SHOE
"Apparently wishing to tout the bendable qualities of its new footwear, Nike enlisted sound artists to transform its product into a musical instrument. The shoes get plugged in, switched on, and mixed up, battle-style, as they sense when the shoe is flexed or moved in space. And yes, everything you see in the video is real: the shoes really are controlling digital sound live. We even have the Max patch to prove it." -- Create Digital Music

FRESH MUSIC: This Will Destroy You
This Will Destroy You is like reliving your favorite dramatic youth filled movie in slow motion. Building upon the echos of a guitar instrullmental they release to an uproar that is very reminiscent of Explosions in the Sky. "They Move on Tracks of Never Ending Light" is my favorite track of theirs.
"This Will Destroy You is an American instrumental post-rock band from San Marcos, Texas. The band is made up of guitarists Chris King and Jeremy Galindo, bass player Donovan Jones and drummer Alex Bhore with Jones also playing the keyboard for live performances." -- Wikipedia
"Much like Explosions in the Sky and Mono, This Will Destroy You use their instruments expertly to create a brooding anxiety that threatens to erupt at any moment. They often build in traditional instro-post-rock fashion, starting calm before growing to a dense wall of guitars and cymbals, but they never really feel bound by that formula." -- Pitchfork

Geeze, I have never really thought about how much this gag is over used. I really shouldn't ever include this in any of my films. (Also, listen to Paul F. Tompkins's thoughts about the mirror gag, hilarious!)

Movie Trailers: Kick-Ass
I'm loving the advertising and what a great trailer. Who wants to go see this with me in less than two weeks?
"Kick-Ass": Dave Lizewski is an unnoticed high school student and comic book fan with a few friends and who lives alone with his father. His life is not very difficult and his personal trials not that overwhelming. However, one day he makes the simple decision to become a super-hero even though he has no powers or training.

"Worst In Me" by Bonnie McKeee
I'm not sure how I feel about the rest of her music, but I'm completely in love with this tune. If this is the route she sticks too, watch out for this little fireball. (God I love redheads)
"You may indeed already be familiar with Bonnie McKee, she released her debut album in 2004. It was basically a mix of Fiona Apple/Sarah McLaughlin/Michelle Branch/X-Tina. Very singer-songwriter and alternative... She's made a complete musical transformation. Her new sound is a total 80s/electro-dance/rock mix." -- atrl

Keep It Short: Fallen Art
What a great animation with such a simple story. Also their characters are so unique that they could easily be in a feature film. So hauntingly beautiful that you might want to make this full screen.

Pedigree Dogs ad
Probably one of the funniest/coolest dog food commercials I have ever seen. Slow motion really does heighten the wonders of the world.
"Director Bob Purman used a camera at 1,000 frames per second to capture these scenes of dogs in action for a Pedigree commercial. The result is an opportunity to savor dogs’ expressions in a unique way — really slow." -- TheDailyTail

Shop: Hello Rewind Laptop Sleeves
I'm all for recycling old clothes. Especially if you can take my favorite t-shirt and fashion it into a usable laptop sleeve. Well Hello Rewind is uncovering all of the endless possibilities.
"The vision for Hello Rewind today is as a social enterprise creating two-fold renewal. One, to recycle old, beloved t-shirts and make something brand new. Two, to develop a business which supports sex trafficking survivors in New York City. I don't believe these two missions are dichotomous." -- Hello Rewind

Music Video: "70 Million" by Hold Your Horses!
I love the idea and its executed in a silly creative way that leaves you begging for more. Also, I kind of dig the song. Way to go Hold Your Horses!
"Their concept was simple: reenact—using face paint, cardboard cutouts and lots of drapery—a lineup of classic paintings while performing their new song. Their portrayals are impressively orchestrated, surprisingly accurate and really pretty funny." -- Very Short List

"Pass Out" by Tinie Tempah
I love the beat. Definitely makes for a great sports anthem.
"Pass Out was literally the first thing we come out when we started working together. He produced the track and he’s the guy who’s singing on the hook as well. Everyone was bobbing their heads when we played it in the studio, that’s when we knew maybe we might be on to something." -- Tinie Tempah for MTV UK
