Recycle, Reduce, Reuse

New Soap, Old Bottle

"We sell brand new liquid soap packaged in old plastic soda bottles, plastic water bottles and glass beer bottles to help clean up our environment. Each bottle is cleaned, sanitized and processed for reuse as packaging for your favorite brand of liquid soap."

New topic! I rarely write about the saving the environment and being a little Earth muffin, but seriously this is an awesome idea. I might try to order some stuff when I move, but kudos on being creative. Better yet, why not try to make them yourself and give them out to the neighbors.

I don't make ransom payments to pirates.

So... has anyone else noticed that the coupons for CVS that print out on your receipt have gotten more and more useless. WTF. When I signed up for a membership card used to get $5 off for every $30 I spent. I dropped $66 today and it gave me a coupon for $3 off Benefiber. Yum.

Well screw the my allergies. I'm done. I can't take it anymore. Seriously the worst part is walking home after a long day at work. I take a shower immediately cause I'm running like a faucet. It's disgusting. "Hey trees. Cut down on the sex life for just a moment so I can breathe."

Keep an ear out for Artomatic news. I'm in it this year and you don't want to miss it. Plus lately, I've been shooting a lot of photography. I'll post one of my new pics from Las Vegas below. Also on a side note... I went to my first fashion show on Sunday and... wow. It's a different world.

So my GF returns in 9 days. I started counting at like 150. I can't help it I'm a romantic. Well its been good time. Actually I wasted a lot of time and I didn't even play WoW. Nothing even major happened, so it was kind of a bust. No REALLY crazy parties. No ventures to the strip club or even a whacky game of strip poker (its about due time people). Well my last weekend of freedom is quickly approaching. I'll be working on a 48 hour film project but other then that I kind of want it to go out with a bang. Cause people I'm going to be MIA and loving it. So get your time in now.

Oh and just for you people who read this on Facebook. Every once in a while click on the original post and up my view counts. It helps my ego. Thanks.

FRESH MUSIC: "Roses" by Meg & Dia

Meg and Dia - Roses (Acoustic)

Wow Meg & Dia, you're kind of hot for indie chicks. Okay, so I'm not a big enough fan to go out and buy the album but I like this song. It's worth adding to your iTunes.

Monday

FRESH MUSIC: Bishop Allen

"Bishop Allen is an American indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York. The band's core members are Justin Rice and Christian Rudder, who are supported both on stage and in the studio by a rotating cast of musical collaborators. The band was formed in 2003 and grew out of Rice and Rudder's friendship; it takes its name from Bishop Allen Drive in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where the two lived together after attending Harvard University." -- Wikipedia

To be honest. I'm not fan. I feel as if I could be if their sound was a little bit different and because of that I think you should check it out.

What do they sound like?
Like every other band from Harvard, minus the coolness of Vampire Weekend.

"Click, Click, Click, Click" by Bishop Allen

I think "Rain" is their best song.

Quotastic! - Gregory Peck

There’s been a lot of glamorous financial news in the papers lately… multi-media conglomerates, billions of billions of dollars in assets… and much more such mergers are to come, or so we are told. I would like to hear some glamorous talk about elevating the quality of films and television. Entertainment that in the words of T.S Eliot: “Enlarges the Sympathies that stimulate the mind and the spirit, that warms the heart, punctures the balloons of hypocrisy, greed, and sham. Tickles the funny bone and leaves us with a glow that comes when we have been well entertained.” Making millions is not the whole ballgame. Fellows, pride of workmanship is worth more. Artistry is worth more. The human imagination is a priceless resource. The public is ready for the best you can give them. It just maybe that you can make a buck and at the same time encourage, foster, and commission work of quality and originality.

Words like this encourage me to be a better filmmaker. A better storyteller. A better artist.

Love Me Some Auto-Tune

Auto-Tune the News #2: pirates. drugs. gay marriage.

Does anyone want to write an auto tune song with me? Wow, I feel like T-Pain's whole career is one giant Ponzi scheme. Also the guys who made this video are actually pretty funny, check them out.

I've always hated this commercial

Anti-Drug Dog

I'm so glad they're finally getting a TV show. Plus you definitely needs to check out Jake and Amir.

I CAN'T STOP LISTENING

So I stole this from I Listen To Everything and I'm posting songs that I can't stop listening to. Most of them will be FRESH MUSIC (new stuff) but its about the song then the artist.

Well I can't stop listening to "Knocked Up" by Lyyke Li. It's just a beautiful song.

Just Dance: George Is Back

So Dance Post #2 was about this British kid named George Sampson who ended up winning Britain's Got Talent (I think). Well the show continues to roll on with great highlights and performances but finally George is breaking out into the scene. He's like a little Chris Brown/Robin Thicke dancing and grooving with his Queen loving friends. Check out the videos since the dancing is so worth it.

Iran: A nation of bloggers

Iran: A nation of bloggers from Mr.Aaron on Vimeo.

I've booked this under cartoons because of the animation but its a great representation of Art Speaks. "The idea that we can communicate and enlighten others thorough an artistic means." A girl I had a HUGE crush on in high school, family was from Iran. She was always worried about the U.S. invading that country. If half their population is really under 25... then the portrayal of this country in the media is wrong. So blog on. Friends. Blog on.

From the editing room to the marketplace...

As a feature filmmaker, your distribution strategy will fall into one of two categories. Either your movie will be picked up, marketed and sold through various outlets by one of those distribution companies you read about in the trades, or you will sell it yourself. This is the major difference between traditional distribution and self-distribution. Regardless of which path you take, there are certain fundamental steps you must complete to ensure the film makes a smooth transition from the edit suite to the marketplace.
Prepping Your Film For Distribution -- Independent Magazine

I often preach about having an exit strategy in life and definitely in Filmmaking. We often get too caught up in making the damn thing that we don't think about what to do when we're done. Some how we have convinced ourselves that its the greatest thing ever, but we really do need to have a plan for marketing and distribution. Goals people! You need to set goals! So read the article. It's worth it.

Colorful sex ain't a Hassle

Erik Hassle - Hurtful

I like the song and I've watched the video like three times already. Its a great breakup tune and I love the concept. I'm a freak for simple colorful things and this really captures it. Hassle is from Sweden (once again the hottest spot for white soul music) and I hope he keeps up with this style. Kind of reminds me of Coldplay.

Better Place Cars

The idea of electric cars has blown up in recent years. I think Agassi's problem solving plan could work, yet I feel that there are too many moving parts and too many RICH people loosing their income stream for this to work in the next ten years. BUT it is a solid step in the right direction.

Buy your music from Amazon!

I love everything Apple but when it comes to my music... just getting into the habit of paying for it was hard enough that I don't need them raising prices. I haven't heard of bands and artist approving of this but its good to know that some companies are still looking out for us.

"As promised, variable pricing has now been implemented at the iTunes music store. Already, we're seeing most of top 10 singles and 33 of the top 100 hitting the top price-point of $1.29 (encoded as DRM-free 256kbps AAC). Interesting as Amazon's uncomfortably similar top 10 list has all these tracks priced at $0.99 (encoded as DRM-free 256kbps VBR MP3)."

I didn't even know how to label this. I'm just as confused as you are, though I think I saw an article in the Washington Post the other week.

Sounds like natural selection to me...

"Hundreds of visitors watched in horror as the woman, who is thought to be mentally disturbed, scaled a fence, a wall and a line of hedges to get into the enclosure as the animals were being fed..."

FRESH MUSIC: LMFAO

LMFAO is a Hip Hop / Electro group from Hollywood that consists of DJ/Rappers Redfoo and Sky Blu.

I'm not a huge fan but if you're looking for some music to bang to while you get ready for a Friday night on the town. I'm positive that LMFAO is the band for you, especially if you live in Miami. They remind me of a poppy Weird Al, mixed with a little Justice and Mickey Avalon. Yeap, that is a weird mash up but you'll understand. Besides their song "I'm in Miami bitch" is sooo catchy.

What does LMFAO mean? It's an abbreviation for saying: LAUGHING MY FUCKIN' ASS OFF

Arthurs Liz Funk & Leora Tanenbaum

Okay so I've never read any of their books and I spent like 30 seconds on Funk's blog but seriously if you have READ any of them, please let me know. I want to hear your opinion on them. Judging from the titles and the comments from Amazon, I found myself laughing at 6:15 in the morning. (I'm sorry but its a silly boy thing.)

Supergirls Speak Out: Inside the Secret Crisis of Overachieving Girls

"Too many young women feel enormous pressure to attain unrealistic standards of perfection in every area of their lives. The emotional toll is often damaging -- and can be life-threatening. With Supergirls Speak Out, Liz Funk performs an invaluable service by examining this serious problem and exploring what we can do to help young women lead healthier, happier lives."

Slut! Growing Up Female with a Bad Reputation

"The fear of being branded a sexual female is directly related to the dueling religious and historical concepts of woman as either pure, good, virginal, and eternally unspoiled, or earthy, evil, scandalous and sexual. Tanenbaum summarizes the history of female sexuality, culminating in a discussion of the impact of the feminist movement of the 1960's and 70's on female sexuality, and the subsequent retreat and backlash from that movement."

I am sure in preparation for married life and raising daughters I will find my nose in between these books or something similar. Being prepared is half the battle, right?

Awesome Blogs: I Listen To Everything

I Listen To Everything

"So much good music. So nicely and simply delivered without her having to show us how cool and smart she is by waxing hipster at us." -- Nick Kroll

This is why the Internet can be evil at work. You stumble across something and four hours later you stop browsing the website/blog. This is exactly what I did with the blog "I Listen To Everything", a really awesome music blog. (duh)

My blog is more of a music blog then anything else (music is the best sex I've ever had), yet her taste might be better though I think she really doesn't listen to everything. I dig her selections since I'm always looking for new shit. So check it out and turn up those speakers!

Is it time to trim your bush?

Mow the Lawn

Yes sir, I often wonder why do they make these ads? Sadly, its a commercial from the UK, so don't expect to see it on the airways anytime soon. But it does bring up a good point as we transition into spring... is it time to trim your bush?

I will not go into detail about how to answer this question but from my own point a view... I think well trimmed is best. Sparing their names... I will only focus on my 4 girlfriends, since I gained the most from them.

Well each gf was a size, shape and style of her own. Most of them have grade "A" hygiene and took great care of their yard. One is all natural but neat. One has a landing strip with a curl (yes a curl). And two are usually clean and clear.

But did any of this really matter? NOPE. Not at all. Why? Because they kept things in order and guys really don't mind... unless its like wild grass then seriously cut it down. (I had to inform one GF but she eventually figured it out.)

Well happy mowing!

Documentary: The Final Inch

Poliomyelitis, often called polio or infantile paralysis, is an acute viral infectious disease spread from person to person... Although around 90% of polio infections cause no symptoms at all, affected individuals can exhibit a range of symptoms if the virus enters the blood stream. In about 1% of cases the virus enters the central nervous system, preferentially infecting and destroying motor neurons, leading to muscle weakness and acute flaccid paralysis.
Poliomyelitis -- Wikipedia

The Final Inch Documentary

I had a hard time watching this without crying. NSFW, if you don't want your coworkers watching you bawl your eyes out. I am deeply moved by extraordinary people living extraordinary simple lives because of an illness or trauma. Its put your life in perspective and reminds you that you can never complain about anything... ever! God bless you all.

Well I'm not sure what I can do to help the cause. I've been looking for an organization to donate to and Global Polio Eradication Initiative seems to be the best place. Also I think Polio is one of the things that the Gates Foundation is working on.

So I'm taking what I learned from Push America and I'm spreading the awareness. Knowledge is power, so go ahead and email the video to a friend. It's the least you can do.

FRESH MUSIC: Asobi Seksu

"Asobi Seksu (colloquial Japanese for "casual sex", or more literally "fun sex") is an indie band based in New York City. Their music draws influence from the shoegazing genre, and similarly uses a textured and effects-heavy vocal and guitar sound. The band consists of Yuki Chikudate (vocals, keyboards) and James Hanna (guitar, vocals)."
Asobi Seksu -- Wikipedia

Their music plays on my Pandora Radio station but I didn't really notice until the Express mentioned that they would be playing in DC. So I ventured over to their MySpace and WOW. I love this. Besides my soft spot for Asian women, the band has a great soft poppy sound. It reminds me of a mix between The Bird and The Bee and BoA. So I wouldn't buy the album but definitely mixtape worthy.

I Heart That Shirt #10: Wolf In Sheep's Clothing

"This old Aesop's Fable, about a clever wolf disguising himself as a sheep to get closer to his unsuspecting prey, has become a common metaphor warning that appearances can be deceptive."

FRESH MUSIC: Teargas & Plateglass

"We don’t know who they are or where they come from or where they reside. But we know they are fond of the works of Godfrey Reggio and Sebastaio Salgado, David Sylvian, Jennifer Charles, and David Hykes. We know the last interview the band did was five years ago. We know their last album, Black Triage, concentrated on themes about genocide."

If you like electronic breakbeats then you'll love Teargas & Plateglass. Its the dark stuff that would fit in a Matrix movie (though it was used in an X-Men 3 trailer). So check out their weird website, if you dig the spookiness of it all. It feels like haunting.
